Where the Crawdads Sing

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This book is about the incredible story of a girl named Kya raised in a Marsh in the Carolinas. She is raised without a mother and a drunken father, so she has to fend for herself the majority of the time. This is a typical coming of age story, where the young girl has to grow up before her time. This book is set in the 1950s, and the marsh becomes more of a parent force than either of Kya's parents. There is a boy that shows an interest in Kya, but not in a nice way. When that boy is eventually found dead, Kya is the prime suspect in the murder case.

This is an incredible book for anyone who cheers for a young female protagonist, anyone who loves a mystery, or anyone who has a great appreciation for nature.
